Intellectual Humility and Self-Censorship in Higher Education; a thematic analysis

Introduction This article explores whether social science lecturers and postgraduate students perceive their experiences of university as supporting intellectual humility – a concept representing disposition to rigorously consider opposing ideas beliefs held in order confirm the positive epistemic status (or truth) ones’ own beliefs. Methods Forty participants, consisting twenty from United Kingdom, took part semi-structured interviews. The focus these interviews was explore higher education align with virtue ‘intellectual humility’. Results Through thematic analysis, results showed that both did not support traits humility.
